Operation Turn the Page(s) is moving along nicely, 2 books finished and good progress in the next two. One of the main reasons I wanted to knock them out was all the books I’m hoping to get for Christmas. I thought I’d share the ones on my list and see what titles you’re looking forward to this year. In no particular order…
- Wrapped in Rain, by Charles Martin
- Maggie, also by Charles Martin
The Space Trilogy: Out of the Silent Planet, Peralandra, and That Hideous Strength, by C.S. Lewis
- The Wingfeather Series, by Andrew Peterson
- The Molehill: Volume 1, compilation
- Every Good Endeavor, by Timothy Keller
- Walking the Amazon: 860 Days, The Impossible Task, The Incredible Journey, by Ed Stafford
- Just Don’t Fall, by Josh Sundquist
- The Critical Questions Series, edited by Ravi Zacharias
Books on writing or the creative process
- The Writing Life, by Annie Dillard
- The War of Art, by Steven Pressfield
Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on the Writing Life, by Anne Lamott
- On Moral Fiction, by John Gardner
- The Mother Tongue: English and how it got that way, by Bill Bryson
- Over Time: My Life as a Sportswriter, by Frank Deford
Read any of these? Any of them on your list? Have any recommendations?
I loved each book in the Space Trilogy… the very first Lewis books I read (while in college).
They’ve been on my list for three or four years, maybe this is the year. Fingers crossed.
The Writing Life is a fantastic book; strong, personal & very inspirational!
I’m excited about that one. I really enjoy Dillard’s art with words, she has a profound talent. Although, I wasn’t able to finish Tinker Creek (read about it here). I did pull one of her quotes for a “Poetic Prose” post (here).
Thanks for the comment, by the way!
I’m looking forward to reading it. I think Dillard writes beautifully and thinks far deeper than most.
